Summer's last week

This puts me in the mood for a cruise....

"I'm tired of paying taxes, sending e-mails and faxes.....Tired of crooked cops.....I'm tired of Black folks complaining that crime don't stop....I'm tired of late subway trains....Tired of undeserved fame....Tired of watching someone on the TV doing nothing....I'd rather be looking at you....Far away from here....Far away from here...Just jump in a taxi cab, pack a bag and get away fast..."

My Getaway

My Getaway--T'Boz

Artist: Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins (of TLC) Lyrics
Song: My Getaway Lyrics
(Ten nine eight,
Seven six five)
Here we go y'all
(Four, three)
(Two, one
My getaway)
Follow me y'all
Let's go y'all
My getaway
My getaway
Come on,
Come on

Do you wanna play outside?
And come with me
It's such a lovely day
I want to go and stay
Wanna come with me
On my getaway

[Repeat chorus]

When you don't
Know what to do
Wanna play
And have some fun
Gotta find a place to go
Just you and me alone
With no one
Somewhere where the
Skies are blue
Fresh air and sunny too
Let's go on a escapade
Just follow me and
I'll lead the way

[Repeat chorus twice]

We can have a barbecue
Eat cake and candy too
Pretend it's a holiday
Your day, my day
His day and her day
This is a special way
To make you feel OK
Any place you wanna go
Enjoy yourself
Make the best of your day

[Repeat chorus thrice]

(Ten nine eight)
Do you wanna play outside?
(Seven six five)
And come with me
It's such a lovely day
(Oh woah)
(Four, three)
I want to go and stay
(Two, one)
Wanna come with me
On my getaway
(My getaway)

Here we go y'all
(My getaway)

(I'm a kid,
You know that I'm good)
(I'm a kid,
You know that I'm good)
(I'm a kid,
You know that I'm good)
(I'm a kid)

[Repeat chorus twice]

(Do you wanna play?)
Do you wanna play outside?
And come with me
It's such a lovely day
(Such a lovely day)
I want to go and stay
Wanna come with me
On my getaway

(Do you wanna play?
A yeay a yeay)
Do you wanna play outside?
And come with me
It's such a lovely day
(Come with me,
Come with me)
I want to go and stay
Wanna come with me
On my getaway

[Repeat chorus]

Do you wanna play outside?
And come with me
(Yeah, yeah)
It's such a lovely day
I want to go and stay
(Yeah, yeah)
Wanna come with me
On my getaway

Uh, uh, my getaway
Haha whoa

You listen to all the others so when are you going to come and hear what I want??? But I've never wanted anything--unlike your "fairweather friends" who have since gathered around you--have I??? No special favors....Your fairweather friends can AFFORD to be in your "amen" corner at the moment since there's not a storm on the horizon, but where were they during your darkest hours???

Come down George come on come down

Five damn days, five long days at the end of the fifth, he (Bush) walking up like 'hey'!!!
Hey Governor Blanco, our main man "Brownay" (not a typo) got a lil bit more to say!!!!

George Bush

Brown: Earlier Bush visit after Katrina would have helped
9/15/2006, 5:24 p.m. CT
The Associated Press

CLEVELAND (AP) — The government's response to Hurricane Katrina would have been better if President Bush had visited New Orleans sooner after the hurricane to signal the administration's commitment, former Federal Emergency Management Agency director Michael Brown said Friday.

Brown, who quit under fire in Katrina's aftermath, told the City Club of Cleveland public forum that things might have been different if he had spoken up sooner about the severity of last year's Gulf Coast hurricane.

In that case, "perhaps the president would have landed Air Force One that first day instead of looking out the window (on a flyover tour)," Brown said.

White House spokesman Alex Conant said Friday that the president has taken full responsibility for the government's response.

"The federal government has committed more than $110 billion to help the Gulf Coast and most of the money has already been sent to the region," Conant said. "I think $110 billion is a strong federal commitment to rebuilding the Gulf Coast."

Bush's first Katrina visit to the Gulf Coast was four days after the hurricane and what he experienced of the crisis was mostly by air. He acknowledged the failure of government hurricane relief efforts to that point and said, "The results are not acceptable."

"Whoever let that picture be taken of him peering out the window at New Orleans, they ought to be fired," Brown said. "I mean that was just stupid. The president should have landed that day."

The president's quick personal presence in New Orleans "would have given me the bully pulpit to say to the rest of the departments and agencies, HHS (Health and Human Services) and DOT (Department of Transportation) and all of the others, that I need help," Brown said.

Brown said the president pledged the administration's support during a video conference call on the day after the hurricane reached land.

"I told the president it was my estimation that 90 percent of New Orleans had been displaced and flooded, and he seemed surprised by that and basically told the rest of the Cabinet to give me whatever I needed," Brown said.

Unraveling things

Lettings unfold naturally before getting all worked up at what's going on around me....There will be plenty of opportunity to make changes....Waiting for the right moment to fight back if I want to win....Romans 8:18-39

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.

19 For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope

21 that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.

22 For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.

23 Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body.

24 For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees?

25 But if we hope for that which we don't see, we wait for it with patience.

26 In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered.

27 He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit's mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God.

28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

30 Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.

31 What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

32 He who didn't spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?

33 Who could bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who justifies.

34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter."

37 No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

"You gotta stay tuned for there's more to see....Through the technical difficulties...We might have to take a break but ya'll know that we'll be back next week....Saying this love is 'unbreakable'...."

Unbreakable--Alicia Keys

See the Problem is...

The Problem is YOU Mr. President

So that's what's wrong with me!!!

Back in 2003 before I moved back home to Louisiana I told my friend Mike (not the urologist Mike) how sometimes I would go into the stores with Walmart in particular in San Antonio and I would have to leave out because I felt sick, nauseated and damn near broke out in a sweat....It happened more times in San Antonio (being surrounded by extroverted Mexicans who can live in a two bed room apartment with 50 people to a room) than it did when I was young--not that it happened all the time either.....I was always under the impression that it was because my brain was trying to focus on too many things in the store....He just laughed and said "No...It's because you're an introvert personality..." So I started doing research on it and lawd did I come out as a text book case InFP....Everything I started reading was TRUE!!!! To include the "out of body" experiences I've had on people who tried to invade my space!!!! But they were out of place!!!! One of the characteristics of an InFP is that we constantly "process information"....I am watching you Senator Vitter so don't think that I am not reading everything I can that comes across me with your name on it.....

We love words.....Yep InFPs do love words....I could read at a very young age so I knew exactly what kinda beer was in my baby bottle when I was christened....LOL.....Yes it's true!!! Jax beer...J-A-X spells Jax!!!! And one time while at my grandmother's house in Opelousas for the summer my uncle came home (he is the baby and grandmother had him as number 12 at age 48)and my grandmother told him that there was some (p-i-e) on the stove....I said to her..."Grandmother I want another piece of p-i-e..." I was a cutup even then at age 3....

Perfectionists we are.....It doesn't matter how much I acomplish I'll always have that feeling like I am not doing enough....The fact that I feel I have too much stuff in here that is becoming clutter is also driving me mad....NO THE "LINOLEUM PEOPLE" AIN'T GETTING ANY MORE OF MY STUFF....THEY WANTED THE WASHER AND DRYER AND THEY'D TAKE THE KITCHEN SINK IF YOU'D LET THEM!!!!! I want to simplify...I want to cocoon myself....I want to surround myself with joy, hope and healing....It is well with my soul....It is well....

I can see why God told me to stop and listen to this song Monday night....It didn't register then but it sure does now.....

I was reading an article in the Bayou Buzz last night and what I really felt is that plenty of Whites in Louisiana still want to see Blacks disenfranchised, hopeless and marginalized.....Now what the Mayor said was just wack about the Chocolate city thang but trust me a lot of Whites in Louisiana would rather see no "chocolate" around this entire state.....After reading some of this writer's comments about Louisiana becoming largely hispanic and that Blacks should pretty much acquiesce it reminded me of the time I was in the Army during BML training (Basic Medical Laboratory Technology ) training at M-4 school one of my fellow White classmates who was adopted by a Mexican family turned to me while we were walking to our cars and said "Don't you just envy their skin color??"....She was referring to some Mexicans who were also walking through the parking lot....She wasn't referring to Blacks trust me.....His column left me with the same feeling....."Don't you just envy their skin color??" "Don't you just "envy (them)??"

No....I do not....I have pretty much dated around the racial spectrum to include a Jewish pediatric urologist and trust me I don't sit around envying "their" skin color.....Mike is very olive complected....This is why a lot of minorities entering this country are able to use that same psychology on Black Americans and it is primarily thanks to the White population....I felt very "second class citizen" after reading his article and my family has been here for generations!!!!! And you wonder why a group of Mexican men could stand there and ask a single Black mother to just let them have her washer and dryer!!!!! They have already "arrived"!!!! They don't feel the need to respect us!!!!! I don't need the latest flavor such as this writer and Mayor Nagin apparently does....They're flavor struck!!!! It's time for Louisiana to lose that "Leander Peres" mentality!!!! It looks as though I can look forward to some race piting with Blacks being on the short end of the stick....."Don't you just envy??" Louisiana I hope that you prove me wrong on at least this one point....Sigh!!!!

Happy Labor Day

Happy labor Day

It's not what you know it's who you know

God bestows gifts and callings but man places gifts and callings on whom "he" chooses.....The Governor says that her father would say "all work is honorable" and I totally agree....The media writes a column and they declare that society honors the value of work and it gets my blood to boiling....SOCIETY DOES NOT HONOR THE VALUE OF WORK!!! SOCIETY HONORS THE VALUE OF THE DOLLAR GENERATED BY WORK!!!!

When you have people making only 26 grand but yet they have 2.5 degreees, masters and doctorates and have even served in the military that clearly shows that SOCIETY DOESN'T HONOR THE VALUE OF WORK!!!! Look at all the screwups that we have out there and you know why this is??!!! It is because folks are getting the "hook up" and many of them aren't even qualified to do their jobs "Hello, Michael 'Brownie' Brown"!!!! IT IS NOT WHAT YOU KNOW!!!! IT IS WHO YOU KNOW IN AMERICA!!!!! You have operators sleeping on the job at major refineries and causing some of the largest oil spills in this area!!!! And let me assure you that a lot of nepotism is still going on!!!! JUST TAKE A LOOK AT NEW ORLEANS!!!! At many refineries in this area you have entire families who are ALL salaried employees....And you wonder why folks aren't hiring??!! They're waiting for one of their "cousins" to finish school!!!!!

Who's Gonna Help Brother Get Further--Lee Dorsey

Ray Nagin is so busy worrying about the projects going back up in New Orleans but what he needs to be worying about is whether blacks will be getting the shaft when it comes to doling out money for contracts!!!! San Antonio has this down to a science--ie the business of "shafting" it's black population when it comes to minority contracts....They love our "black" dollars that are generated by the fact that we are serving in the military though....San Antonio could take a cue from Killeen and Houston, Texas....Besides the riverwalk there is nothing else appealing about San Antonio to me--especially that city's culture....

I guess my problem is that fact that I truly don't know anyone with the "hook up" so I guess I'll be making 26 to 30 grand for a while inspite of the fact of 2.5 degrees....Even if I did I'd make sure that I would be fully informed and capable of doing my job because I have a conscience.....Most folks are on the job only for the money.....IF THE CHOICES THEY MAKE BRING FORTH DEATH AND DESTRUCTION THEY STILL FIND COMFORT TO REST WELL AT NIGHT...Take President Bush for an example!!!!

"So, who's Gonna help Brother (and sister for that matter) get further?? One another...Is that the truth??? One another.... Yeah you rite!!! "

Who's Gonna help Brother Get Further

We may seem happy like everything's alright But from the outside looking in Everything's uptight But deep down inside we're covering up the pain It's an old thing It's a soul thing But it's a real thing Pray tell what's gonna happen to brother Who's gonna help him get further One another One another There's old dude standing on the corner Waiting for a fox to pass The only thing he's got to go by Is this is where he saw her last And there's old John, two dollars in his pocket Talking loud and thinks he's rich And look for little fool, too cool to go to school Get a job, in two days he quits Pray tell what's gonna happen to brother Who's gonna help him get further One another Is that the truth? One another Yeah, you're right Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Pray tell what's gonna happen to brother Who's gonna help him get further One another One another Mama get up early, early in the morning Papa's already gone Going out a-working for half of what he's worth now You know that it's wrong What happen to the Liberty Bell I heard so much about? Did it really ding-dong? It must have dinged wrong It didn't ding long Pray tell what's gonna happen to brother Who's gonna help him get further One another Is that the truth? One anotherYeah, you're right Mama get up early, early in the morning Papa's already gone Working two jobs for half of what he's worth now You know that it's wrong What happen to the Liberty Bell I heard so much about? Did it really ding-dong? It must have dinged wrong It didn't ding long Pray tell what's gonna happen to brother Who's gonna help him get further One another Is that the truth? One another Yeah, you're right Pray tell what's gonna happen to brother Who's gonna help him get further One anotherIs that the truth?
