Reality Check for President Bush and Congress

Someone please make them understand this statement.....

Red world--Rise up

Wetlands International is the only global non-governmental organization committed to the conservation of wetlands. Its main goal is to enhance the wise use of wetlands, as all over the world wetlands are providing the basis for human survival and development. They can be found all over the world, from the polar regions to the tropics.

In many regions of the world, wetlands are deteriorating rapidly. As they are the most highly threatened ecosystems of our planet, action to preserve wetlands is necessary – the sooner the better. People around the world are relying on wetlands for their spiritual, cultural as well as economic well-being; That is why we need to safeguard the existence of wetlands worldwide.

Wetlands provide services of great value to society; They control floods, protect coastal zones and they host a great diversity of species. The cultural and economical importance of Wetlands to indigenous communities is beyond words. That is why a special international treaty – The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands – has been established by governments and NGOs. More action will be needed in order to secure wetlands and their values for our generation as well as for those to come.
